Doug Helmuth, with 30 years experience pursuing space remote sensing challenges, will discuss the highlights of what has been discovered about the earth over the last 15 years using satellites, who has been driving these initiatives and discoveries and what was done as a result. Helmuth will discuss several new initiatives that the 'world climate change community' is currently exploring, the requirements and challenges these initiatives represent as well as the benefits of monitoring the results. Gain insights on the key players including governments to policy makers to scientists to the aerospace industry and learn about the terminology used in today's climate change discussions. Discussion will include a history of weather satellites, the GPS constellation and several Google Earth enabling examples.  A number of Web sites will be highlighted for the audience to discover and explore on their own or with their families.
